Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP). Our representative will welcome you and transfer you to Darjeeling (90km, 3-4 hours) through scenic mountain roads with tea gardens and waterfalls. En route visit Peshok Tea Estate viewpoint. Arrive in Darjeeling and check-in to your hotel. Evening free to explore the famous Mall Road and Chowrasta - the heart of Darjeeling. Enjoy momos, thukpa, and local delicacies. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Early morning (4 AM) drive to Tiger Hill to witness the spectacular sunrise over Mount Kanchenjunga and the Eastern Himalayan range - colors changing from gold to orange to pink. On the way back, visit Ghoom Monastery (Yiga Choeling) - one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Visit Batasia Loop - a spiral railway track with War Memorial and panoramic views. Return to hotel for breakfast. Then embark on full-day sightseeing: Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (snow leopards, red pandas), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center, Tea Gardens & Factory, Japanese Peace Pagoda, and Ropeway/Cable Car (India's first). Overnight in Darjeeling.
After breakfast, enjoy optional Toy Train joy ride on the UNESCO World Heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway from Darjeeling to Ghoom and back (at own cost - highly recommended). Check-out and drive to Gangtok (98km, 4 hours) through winding mountain roads with stunning valley views. Cross into Sikkim at Rangpo checkpoint (carry valid ID proof). Arrive in Gangtok - check-in to hotel. Evening free to explore MG Marg - the lively pedestrian mall with cafes, shops, and restaurants. Enjoy Sikkimese and Tibetan cuisines. Overnight stay in Gangtok.
Early morning (7 AM) depart for Tsomgo Lake (Changu Lake) - 40km from Gangtok at 12,310 ft altitude. This oval-shaped glacial lake changes colors with seasons and is considered sacred by locals. Enjoy yak rides, try local snacks, and capture stunning mountain reflections. Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir - a shrine dedicated to an Indian Army soldier at 13,200 ft (subject to permit and weather). Return to Gangtok by afternoon. Visit Gangtok city sightseeing: Tashi Viewpoint for Kanchenjunga views, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Flower Exhibition Centre, Cottage Industries Emporium, and Do Drul Chorten Monastery with 108 prayer wheels. Evening stroll at MG Marg. Overnight in Gangtok. Note: Tsomgo Lake requires Inner Line Permit (arranged by us).
After breakfast, check-out from hotel. Optional morning visit to Rumtek Monastery - largest monastery in Sikkim, 24km from Gangtok (at own cost, if time permits). Drive back to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station (125km, 4-5 hours) for your onward journey. En route stop at Teesta River viewpoint and local markets for last-minute shopping of tea, handicrafts, and woolen items. Take home beautiful memories of the Himalayas, monasteries, and mountain culture.
Darjeeling and Gangtok were absolutely stunning! Tiger Hill sunrise over Kanchenjunga was breathtaking - worth the early wake-up. Toy train ride was charming. Darjeeling tea gardens are beautiful with amazing views. Tsomgo Lake was magical - the yak ride and scenery were incredible. Gangtok's MG Marg has great vibes with cafes and shops. Monasteries were peaceful and spiritual. Hotels were comfortable. Our driver and guide were excellent. Perfect romantic getaway! Thank you Destiny Yatra!
Amazing trip with family! Darjeeling colonial charm is intact - loved the architecture and tea culture. Zoo had red pandas and snow leopards which kids loved. Cable car ride gave panoramic views. Batasia Loop war memorial was touching. Gangtok is cleaner and more modern. Tsomgo Lake was stunning even though it was freezing cold. Monasteries were serene. Food was delicious - momos and thukpa everywhere! All arrangements were smooth. Great package at reasonable price!
Lovely hill station combo! Darjeeling has old-world charm with British heritage. The sunrise at Tiger Hill was cloudy for us but still beautiful. Tea factory tour was educational. Gangtok is cleaner with better infrastructure. Tsomgo Lake journey was adventurous with winding roads. MG Marg shopping was fun. Only suggestion - could use one more day to explore Pelling or Kalimpong. Overall very good trip organized by Destiny Yatra team. Would recommend!
